- What would you do if failure wasn't an option?
- Do you believe your wildest dreams are even possible or just fun to think about?
- Do you tend to focus on your strengths or weaknesses?
- Do fear and self-doubt consume a lot of your energy?
Never underestimate your power of choice. It's the ultimate super-power amongst us mere mortals and yet so easy to take for granted. But think about it: when your heart and mind synchronize with intention and action, you have the power to make your wildest dreams come true! You get to choose your relationships, your career, your lifestyle habits, your mindset, and where you invest your time and energy. That's pretty badass. But... the power of choice can feel equally daunting; especially when your current life situation is a constant reminder of the Universal law of cause and effect. It sucks when your heart and mind synchronize with intention and action but nothing seems to happen. Or worse, when your super-power turns your life into a s**tstorm of one painful life lesson after the other. It's paralyzing to know exactly what you want while feeling absolutely powerless because you don't have the time, resources, support, or experience to make the "right" choices. Super-powers should feel magical, after all!
After the last eight years (yes, eight!) of feeling defeated in so many ways, I'm finally realizing that I never lost my superpower - even though I wasn't able to instantly heal from divorce, recover from major financial loss, rebuild my career, or even learn to trust again. I've simply been exerting all of my power to rebuild myself mentally, emotionally, financially, and spiritually. My energy has been focused on developing a positive mindset in the midst of "survival mode", by using my "failures" to develop greater self-awareness and reflect on the cause-effect relationship of my choices. It's been used to carefully choose the people and environments that contribute to expansive thinking and creativity versus negativity and stagnation. I've used my power to make temporary career choices that don't necessarily feed my soul but contribute to my financial goals while helping me reassess and redefine what I want and need to feel fulfilled and successful in my second career. I've used my power to challenge my beliefs about life, relationships, and my place in this world.
The kind of choices I've been making over the last eight years haven't felt like the "big wins" my ego craves; the kind that are clearly demonstrable, outwardly impressive, or make we want to do a victory dance. But I'm finally stopping to recognize the many ways in which I've been strategically using my power to become the person I want to become and shape the kind of life I want to experience. And that in itself is a powerful choice.
