Turn Ons: Talent is my turn on. The Voca People stole my heart with their ability to re-create music that defined many moments of my life without the use of instruments; only their voices. That's raw talent!
Turn Offs: My only turn-off was that I wasn't one of the lucky ones selected to go on-stage to be serenaded. To be fair, I guess that's more of a bruised ego than a turn off.

Talent has always been a major turn-on for me. It even has the power to bump someone up from a “seven” in appearance straight up to a “ten” and make me feel unworthy of their love. This is true of the Off-Broadway sensation, "Voca People" at The Westside Theater in Times Square. I could care less that these "Voca People" are odd-looking aliens having just arrived on planet Earth via space ship. Or the fact that they are monochromatic mutants wearing all white with matching red lips. Or that they have names like “Beat On”, “Scratcher”, “Bari-Tone”, “Mezzo” or “Alta”. They are perfect "tens" as far as I'm concerned! They are pure artists believing that “Life is music and music is life”. And their music is so powerful, it erases any barriers of language, age, race, gender... or species for that matter. They've found a way to communicate effectively and interact boldly with us Earthlings by appealing to us through a masterful mash-up of some of our favorite music from the 20th & 21st centuries; from classical to classic rock, musicals, pop music and hip hop. And they do it all without instruments! They provide the beats, the horns, the drums, the bass, the electric guitar plus the vocals. Yes, undisputable, raw talent! I sat mesmerized, awed and in love. And while caught up in the bliss of new love, I lost all sense of inhibition and shame. I found myself testing my own vocal prowess, along with the rest of the willing audience, in a round of beat boxing, scratching and belting a few high notes. Oh, the things we’ll do for love...
