Turn-Ons: Susan King confirmed that my intuition is not dead.
Turn-Offs: I only wish she lived here full-time! One week is simply not enough.

Happily Ever After
I was about six months deep into my two year contract and island fever crept up on my ass like a stranger in a dark alley. Up until that point, I had settled quite comfortably into my new life as the Pilates/Fitness instructor at a private resort island in Turks & Caicos. The stress of NYC’s daily grind, my chaotic schedule plus the sensory overload of the concrete jungle were buried in the depths of tranquil Caribbean waters. I was absorbing nature’s beauty with childlike awe and still fascinated by my own version of The Real World where; not seven, but fourteen strangers from Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, India, and me (the one American) were picked to live in a house... and work together in a Spa... in paradise. Prison paradise. Yep, at just about the six month mark, shit started to get real and this introverted city girl started to feel signs of unraveling. Life became as redundant as Groundhog Day and my body literally ached with loneliness. I missed the familiarity of old friends, colloquial English, and the freedom to come and go as I please. Oh, and actual places to go; like to a pole dance class, a movie theater or, god forbid, a restaurant.
And then she arrived! Susan King, an intuitive counsellor to folks like Oprah Winfrey, Donna Karan... and now me! She possessed a strong energetic presence and a bubbly personality bathed in self-knowing, confidence and compassion. Within a 75min session she offered me context to my angst, clarity about my purpose, and some focused direction while (stuck) here in (prison) paradise. It was amazing to experience the way my fears and desires in life and love came to her in pictures, symbols and messages as she stared off into space. And then we’d discuss them. It felt so reassuring to speak candidly (and colloquially) to someone who understood fully the context in which I was living. And because of her gift, seemed to understand me too. She saw my desperate need for grounding, my strong desire for partnership and the importance of movement expression in my life. In fact, she said, “Without movement expression, Kira, you’ve lost 80% of your soul.” *GULP* That hit me hard because its one of the biggest voids in my life right now.
But one of the most important reminders that Susan King left me with, was that my own intuition never failed me. I simply failed my intuition by choosing to ignore it.
