Turn-Ons: Emotionally provocative, bold, breathtaking, creative, relatable and inspiring storytelling told through dance and the innovative use of poles as environmental props.
Turn-Offs: Only that audience participation was limited to applause. I was dying to join the dancers onstage and express my own version of such a seemingly familiar story.

Happily Ever After
I watched the last five years of my life flash before my eyes with a rawness and realness that churned my stomach and brought tears to my eyes. While I've come a long way in my emotional healing process, painful memories and feelings still linger close to the surface making me as sensitive as an exposed nerve; not just to my own pain but that of others.
I felt the stabbing discomfort of trying to break free from negative attachments, relationships and self-defeating habits in search of myself and whatever might nourish my soul and help me flourish. I felt the pins and needles of loneliness and the sharp longing for fulfilling relationships, a real support system and genuine experiences to regain my sense of wholeness. I felt the radiating pain caused by short-lived boosts of confidence that only ended with more loss and betrayal; wondering if these life patterns would ever change or if this was just my destiny. But I also felt the absence of pain due to my own power of resilience. Yes, I deeply felt Love & Guts: Underground Series Part 1 presented by The Pulse Project.
Six fearless and powerful dancers articulated my life story with unflinching emotion through the ingeniously conceived weaving of contemporary dance and the added element of four vertical poles which became animate representations of the dancer's own personal struggles, their source of longing, and their hope. They showed what it's like to experience deep emotional suffering but to live with fearless abandon and audacious desire. Watching them dance, climb, spin, flip and launch themselves boldy from pole to pole and across the stage was to have my own out of body experience.
The Pulse Project bravely proved that new beginnings are possible. All it takes is LOVE & GUTS.
